Zynga subsidiary NaturalMotion is planning to lay off an unspecified number of employees in its US and UK offices.
According to Gamesindustry.biz, the job cuts have already begun, and the company has shut down its Birmingham studio, which was established in 2019.
If the layoffs do happen, a spokesperson mentioned that only a “small number of roles” would be impacted. Another spokesperson stated that there is no further information to share beyond the current statement.
Upcoming Job Cuts
“An essential aspect of building global connections through games is to operate efficiently,” read the statement from GI.
“As part of this effort, we have made the tough decision to assess our UK and US operations, which may affect several roles in both countries. We believe that these changes will help ensure the long-term sustainability of the studio and align it with our future development requirements.”
Additionally, NaturalMotion assured that there would be no disruption to the services provided to players during this transition and that they are committed to aiding affected employees “with the utmost consideration, respect, and care.”
Zynga’s parent company, Take-Two, recently disclosed its intentions to let go of 580 employees by the year’s end.
