YouTube is introducing several new features for Premium users, such as smart downloads, picture-in-picture mode for Shorts, and expanding the “Jump Ahead” feature for easier video navigation.
The platform already offers background play and picture-in-picture mode for long-form videos, now extending these features to Shorts on Android devices.
A new “Jump Ahead” button allows users to quickly skip to the most engaging parts of a video by double-tapping. Using viewer data and machine learning, YouTube identifies these segments to enhance the viewing experience.
YouTube is introducing experimental features, including a conversational AI tool for chatbot interaction and requesting related content, initially available to Android users in the U.S.
Additionally, smart download support for Shorts automatically saves relevant short videos for offline viewing based on user preferences. The platform is also testing a redesigned desktop watch page.
With over 100 million paid users globally across Premium and Music services, YouTube continues to innovate and improve the user experience.
