Xbox recently announced new features for Discord as part of its August update. These features include the ability to watch Discord streams directly from the console, eliminating the need for external devices. This complements the existing feature that allows users to stream Xbox gameplay live on the platform.
As per Discord’s latest update, the integration of Discord into the Happening Now tab of the Xbox Friends list enables players to see friends speaking in voice channels or gaming. Users can now join calls or chats directly from the Xbox console, accessing most of Discord’s features without using phones or PCs. Discord and Xbox recommend relinking accounts to access these new features.
The Discord updates are part of Xbox’s larger August update, as mentioned on Xbox’s official news source. Other updates in the August release include adding the Xbox app to first-generation Fire TV Sticks and third-generation Fire TV Cubes, providing more options for Xbox Game Pass subscribers to enjoy cloud gaming. Another significant update is the ability to customize game installations on console and PC, giving players the freedom to choose which parts of a game to install, especially useful for titles with multiple play options like Call of Duty.
