All of Xbox’s mobile features will soon be consolidated into a single app. Microsoft announced Wednesday that it will be integrating Game Pass features into the regular Xbox app for beta users starting this week.
This move marks the end of the Xbox Game Pass app as a standalone entity. Game Pass functionality, such as catalog search and perks for Game Pass Ultimate members, will now be accessible through the main Xbox app. The separate Game Pass app will no longer be available for new downloads starting in November.
This change benefits players who prefer having all PC and console features in one app without the need for multiple applications. It also simplifies the process of accessing Game Pass catalogs compared to the regular Xbox Store. While the app still lacks native Xbox Cloud Gaming functionality, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can still stream games through a browser.
To participate in the beta program on mobile, you can download the Xbox beta app from the Google Play Store for Android or through TestFlight on iOS.
The Xbox blog post also highlights other updates for PC and console players. The Game Bar Compact Mode, previously only available to Xbox Insiders, is now accessible to all PC players. This mode provides a smaller version of the Game Bar optimized for smaller screens like those on Windows handheld consoles, with a single widget on the left-hand side that can be navigated with a controller.
PC players will also receive additional management tools for saving download space and viewing games more efficiently.
Console players will benefit from a new feature that simplifies gameplay with updates and pre-downloads. While not available for all games, it is supported in Xbox titles like Sea of Thieves and Minecraft. Consoles will now receive notifications when a game on a player’s wishlist has updates, promotions, or is added to the Game Pass library.
