Whitethorn Games recently held its first Winter Showcase, unveiling more information about its upcoming games, ports, and partnerships with other studios. The publisher has a lineup of cozy and pleasant titles launching this year, with a strong focus on accessibility in collaboration with Safe in Our World, Take This, and ID@Xbox. Accessibility was a central theme in almost every announcement made during the showcase.
One of the major announcements was the release date of Botany Manor, a cozy adventure game from Balloon Studios, launching on April 9 on PC, Xbox (including Game Pass), and Switch. Other upcoming titles include the pixel-art title Magical Delicacy, launching later this year; the deity-befriending sim Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island, launching in the summer; and Skate Fish, a mobile game where players impress fish into taking the bait, launching on March 28.
Additional announcements included new platform releases for Lake on February 15 on Switch, and Wytchwood, which is now available for iOS and Android. In addition to games, Whitethorn has partnered with North Star Games on its unannounced first title, and with Pancake Games on the latter’s upcoming game, Slime Heroes.
Throughout the announcements, Whitethorn’s Chief Accessibility Officer Britt Dye emphasized the accessibility features of each game, including audio and visual effect toggles and difficulty customization. Access Ability’s Laura Kate Dale also made a guest appearance during the showcase, discussing the benefits of highlighting accessibility features well before the release of the games. Lisa Mior, Whitethorn’s director of communications, expressed the company’s commitment to ensuring a positive gaming experience for as many players as possible in an article on Xbox Wire.
