At Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 keynote, the company unveiled the latest major update of iOS for iPhone users. iOS 18 is packed with exciting new features such as enhanced home screen and control center customization options, RCS support in Messages, the ability to schedule messages, and a range of features powered by the innovative Apple Intelligence.
During the “It’s Glowtime” event, Apple introduced the iPhone 16 series and announced the official release date for iOS 18 on supported devices.
iOS 18 was officially launched for the general public on Monday, September 16, as reported by Digital Trends. The update is compatible with most iPhones, provided they have an A12 Bionic chip or later. iPhones with an A11 Bionic chip or older are not supported. The iPhone 16 series comes with iOS 18 pre-installed.

While these devices support iOS 18, not all features will work on every model. For instance, Apple Intelligence, set to debut in iOS 18.1 and later updates, is only compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro models and the iPhone 16 series.
iOS 18 introduces various enhancements, including enhanced customization tools for the Home Screen and Control Center, improved messaging features, and robust support for RCS in Messages. The Photos app has also been revamped with advanced search options and improved sharing capabilities.
Features like satellite connectivity for sending texts and emojis without Wi-Fi or cellular coverage, dynamic iMessage effects, and enhanced collaboration on shared albums highlight the functionality of iOS 18. Additionally, the Mail app, Safari, Maps, Wallet, Notes, and Journal apps have all received significant updates for a more intuitive user experience.
