WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature called “Favorites” to help users quickly locate and connect with important chats from key individuals and groups. This filter allows for direct calling from the top of the calls tab, simplifying communication with your most significant contacts.
The “Favorites” filter is now being rolled out and will be accessible to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks. It enables users to gather all chats from close friends or family groups in one convenient location for easy access. Additionally, a “Favorites” section has been added to the calls tab, allowing users to speed-dial preferred contacts without having to search through recent call logs or contact lists.
To add a contact or group to your favorites, simply select the “Favorites” filter from your chats screen or choose the “Add favorite” option after selecting the desired contact or group from the calls tab. You can also add a chat to your favorites by long-pressing it and selecting “Add to favorite.” Furthermore, users can manage their favorite contacts and groups by navigating to Settings > Favorites > Add to Favorite, with the ability to rearrange them according to preference at any time.
WhatsApp was initially testing the feature to select favorite contacts on iOS and the web in February, as reported by WABetaInfo. It also became available on Android in April, following the beta testing period.
This update comes after WhatsApp introduced chat filters three months ago, initially offering “All,” “Unread,” and “Groups” as filter options. The addition of the “Favorites” filter enhances the user experience, making it easier for people to quickly connect with their preferred contacts via WhatsApp. This feature was highly anticipated, as users had been relying on alternative methods to efficiently reach out to their favorite contacts prior to its introduction.
