In Seoul, South Korea, the top 8 VALORANT teams are currently battling it out in VALORANT Champions 2024. After the group stage wrapped up on Aug. 11, all attention has turned to the playoff stage. On Day 10 of the event, powerhouse teams like DRX, Sentinels, and EDward Gaming took center stage in the playoffs, delivering some thrilling matchups.
Sentinels Maintain Dominance against VCT Pacific Teams
Heading into the VALORANT Champions playoffs, many were surprised by Sentinels’ strong performance, especially after their struggles in VCT Americas Stage Two. They managed to qualify as the second seed from the tough group that included VCT Masters Shanghai winners, Gen G. On the other hand, DRX showcased a flawless run in the tournament with their new roster.
In the first game on the Sunset map, a close battle ensued with a standout performance from Zachary “zekken” Patrone, securing an ACE for Sentinels. Despite DRX’s strong showing, Sentinels clinched the victory in overtime with a score of 15-13.
Game 2 on Haven saw Sentinels displaying a dominant defense, diffusing the spike multiple times to secure a 13-8 win over DRX.
EDward Gaming Continues Winning Streak Against Trace Esports
EDward Gaming’s dominance in the VCT China region continued as they secured a convincing win over Trace Esports in the playoffs. With exceptional performances from players like Wang “nobody” Senxu and Zheng “ZmjjKK” Yongkang, EDward Gaming emerged victorious with scores of 13-7 and 13-8 in the two games played on Bind and another map.
EDward Gaming will now clash with Sentinels in the Upper Bracket Semi-finals, while Trace Esports will face off against DRX in the upcoming matches on August 16th.
