On the contrary, KRU Esports, a team not heavily favored to qualify, surprised many by clinching a spot at VALORANT Champions. KRU Esports has a remarkable track record of qualifying for every VALORANT Champions tournament.
The first map on Haven saw KRU Esports dominating DRX with a convincing 10-2 scoreline in the first half. Melser’s outstanding performance, with a kill-to-death difference of +18 and five first-bloods, secured the win for KRU Esports in Map 1.
DRX bounced back in Map 2, securing a convincing 13-6 victory. Flashback, a rookie, showcased exceptional skills with an ADR of 221 and a kill-to-death difference of +14. DRX continued their dominance and clinched the decider map with a score of 13-6, completing a remarkable reverse sweep in their first game at VALORANT Champions 2024.
“I have always had my eyes on KRU since 2021, and I want to be able to match their firepower and out-aim them. It definitely means a lot to us,” said MAKO in a post-match interview.
Fnatic Showcase Their Dominance Against Bilibili Gaming
The second match of the day featured Fnatic against Bilibili Gaming. Fnatic demonstrated their prowess on Bind, winning the game 13-9. Whzy from Bilibili Gaming stood out with an impressive KDA of 23/6/1 playing Raze, despite his team’s loss. Map 2 was a dominant performance by Fnatic, securing a 13-4 win and showcasing their strategic gameplay.
