Ubisoft has announced changes to its subscription service, Ubisoft+. The service now offers two new plans: Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classics. The former combines Ubisoft+ Multi-Access and PC Access into one service, while the latter provides the company’s back catalog to PC subscribers. Ubisoft renamed the service to coincide with the launch of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in early access.
According to Phillipe Tremblay, Ubisoft’s director of subscriptions, the newly-renamed Ubisoft+ Premium offers early access to new games, monthly rewards, and the company’s back catalog, while Ubisoft+ Classics offers the back catalog specifically. Tremblay adds that Ubisoft+ users have logged over 600 million hours of play, and that one in ten subscribers have never played a Ubisoft title before.
The two subscription plans are currently available for different platforms. Tremblay says that Premium is available for Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna, while Classics is available for PC and for PlayStation as a bundle with PS Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions. The plans cost $17.99/month and $7.99/month respectively, though former PC Access subscribers get to keep their price of $14.99/month.
Ubisoft’s subscription platform became entangled in the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard acquisition last year. As part of its concessions to UK regulators, Microsoft passed cloud streaming rights for Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard titles to Ubisoft for the next 15 years. It’s not clear when the company is bringing Activision Blizzard titles to Ubisoft+ Premium.
