Ubisoft is exploring the possibility of rebooting the Rayman franchise, with team members from Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan collaborating on new games. The project is still in early stages of development, with more details to be announced later.
The team includes Fawzi Mesmar, VP of editorial at Ubisoft, and series creator Michel Ancel as a consultant to maintain consistency within the universe. Ancel had temporarily left the industry but has returned for this project.
Recent reports suggest that Ubisoft Montpellier developers, who were initially working on a Rayman remake, have shifted focus to other projects including Beyond Good & Evil 2.
The Rayman series, which debuted in 1995, has a rich history at Ubisoft Montpellier. The last main series installment, Rayman Legends, was released in 2013. The Rabbids have also played a prominent role in the series with games like Mario + Rabbids.
