Despite promises of three years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates, Motorola had not mentioned any plans for the older models.
This week, there is finally good news for owners of the Razr 2023 and Razr Plus 2023 as reports suggest that the Android 14 update is being rolled out. According to 9to5Google, Reddit users have received notifications and screenshots confirming the update.
Motorola appears to be officially releasing the Android 14 update with the May 2024 security patch, although it may not be available to all users immediately.

The update brings notable additions, especially for the Razr Plus 2023, such as upgrades to the cover display with support for an always-on display mode, similar to the newer models. Users have also reported the LED flashing for unread notifications.
Although the Android 14 update rollout for Motorola comes months after Google’s release for Pixel phones, it shows progress in software updates. Motorola has created a support page for Android 14 features for the Razr 40/Razr 2023 series, hinting at an imminent international rollout.
