Tundra Esports emerged victorious over Team Falcons at TI13, delivering a stunning blow to the tournament favorites in an epic series. Tundra secured a decisive 2-0 victory over the Falcons in the Lower Bracket on Sep. 14, ending their opponent’s hopes and securing a minimum of third place in Dota 2’s prestigious tournament.
The series, like every game in The International 2024 Playoffs, ended in a 2-0 sweep, with Tundra dominating their opponents. In Game One, Tundra Esports showcased their strength with Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko’s unstoppable performance on Lone Druid. The Saudi-backed team overwhelmed the Falcons, leaving them unable to counter the onslaught.
In Game Two, Tundra’s core players stepped up to secure the victory. Pure’s dominance on Alchemist was complemented by Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen and Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev’s impressive performances on Sniper and Doom respectively.
Throughout both games, Falcons appeared shaken by Tundra’s focused gameplay. Despite Falcons’ reputation for precise hero picks, they struggled to penetrate Tundra’s defenses.
Following their elimination, Falcons placed 4th at TI13, securing a prize of at least $150,000. Despite their success in other tournaments throughout the year, TI proved to be a challenging hurdle for the team.
Meanwhile, Tundra advances to the Lower Bracket Finals with the opportunity to make history as one of the few organizations to win The International twice. A victory would also make Topson the first three-time TI winner in history, while stand-in teammate Saksa would achieve a two-time win.
It has been a remarkable journey for Tundra, defying expectations with a makeshift roster of talented players. They now stand on the brink of ultimate victory in The International.
