Threads, the Twitter-like app from Instagram, is adding new features that allow users to save drafts and take photos within the app. Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced these features today, emphasizing their ability to make sharing ideas easier on the go. These features were tested with selected users before the official rollout, as they were highly requested by the community.
With these new updates, Threads becomes more competitive with X (formerly Twitter) by offering a draft-saving feature and a camera shortcut. Although users can only save one draft at a time on Threads, compared to X’s multiple drafts, it still provides a convenient way to write and save posts for later sharing.
In addition, the app now allows users to capture photos directly within the platform by clicking the camera icon in the composer. This functionality eliminates the need to switch between different apps for taking and sharing photos, streamlining the user experience.
Recent rumors suggest that X might adopt Threads’ carousel format for image display, moving away from its current grid layout. This potential change indicates a shift towards a more interactive and engaging image viewing experience on X.
Since its launch in July 2023, Threads has continuously added new features to compete with X, including bookmarking, trending topics, and cross-posting capabilities from Facebook to Threads, enhancing the platform’s functionality and user engagement.
