In recent years, Google’s Pixel phones have been drawing comparisons to the iPhone due to their rounded edges, sleek design, and raised camera bump. The latest Google Pixel 9 continues this trend.
Now, it seems that even the incoming call screen of the Google Phone app is getting an iPhone-like makeover. According to a breakdown of the APK by Android Authority, Google is testing a new UI for incoming calls that may be included in update version 145.0.672690850.
The new interface simplifies the incoming call screen, replacing the swipe gesture with separate answer and reject buttons, resembling the layout seen on iPhones.
While the layout resembles that of Samsung devices, there is a key difference. Samsung places the decline button on the right and the accept button on the left, while iPhone has them in reverse order.
Google has not officially announced the new interface, suggesting that it is still undergoing testing and could evolve based on feedback. The move towards a more familiar interface could be aimed at attracting iPhone users to switch to Pixel phones.
This change also signals a potential future where basic functionalities across mobile devices become more uniform, despite variations in hardware and software.
