The Way is a new app created by Henry Shukman and Jack Shukman that aims to offer a deeper approach to meditation guided by an authorized Zen Master. This app goes beyond popular mindfulness practices found in other apps like Headspace and Calm, delving into ancient meditation traditions.
Henry, a recognized Zen Master, transitioned to online meditation teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic and saw positive responses from people. This led to the idea of creating a meditation app featuring his teachings, which was later pursued by his nephew Jack after leaving his corporate job.
The duo launched The Way in 2022, securing a $1.4 million seed funding round from True Ventures and angel investors. The app offers a structured approach to meditation, allowing daily interactions with a Zen Master through guided meditations and talks.
Unlike other meditation apps, The Way follows a linear progression to avoid decision fatigue and provide a seamless path to deeper meditation practices. It’s designed to help users move beyond basic mindfulness and explore more profound aspects of meditation.
The Way offers the first 30 meditation sessions for free, with a subscription model for accessing the full curriculum. Users can apply for The Way’s scholarship program if they are unable to afford the subscription. The app is available on iOS and Android platforms.
