Samsung’s upcoming budget phone, the Galaxy A16 5G, is making waves with its remarkable feature of receiving six years of security patches from launch. This means it will stay fully updated until October 31, 2030, which is quite unprecedented in the budget phone segment.
While most budget phones only receive two years of security patches, the Galaxy A16 5G’s extended support puts it just one year behind Samsung’s flagship models. With impressive specs like a 6.7-inch display, 90Hz refresh rate, and maximum brightness of 800 nits, this phone is set to be a standout in its category.
With up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the Galaxy A16 5G is well-equipped for long-term usage. It may slow down over the years due to accumulated content, but it should remain functional.
The phone will ship with One UI 6.1 initially and is expected to receive an upgrade to One UI 7 in the future. The Galaxy A16 5G is listed on Samsung’s Netherlands website with a price tag of 229 Euro, hinting at an imminent release.
