New details about the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 3 have surfaced, shedding light on the screen, charging capabilities, and software updates to expect. Following the success of the Pixel Watch 2, the third iteration is anticipated to be an impressive upgrade.
According to leaked promotional documentation shared with Android Headlines, the Pixel Watch 3 will feature Google’s Actua Display technology, delivering a peak brightness of 2,000 nits – a significant improvement over its predecessor’s 1,000 nits. This enhancement will put it on par with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, although falling short of the Galaxy Watch Ultra’s 3,000 nits peak brightness.
The leak also hints at a 20% faster charging speed for the 41mm Pixel Watch 3, indicating that Google may introduce a larger 45mm case size this year. Additionally, the inclusion of small and large Active Band strap options suggests greater versatility to accommodate different wrist sizes.
Exciting new features in fitness tracking are expected, including an updated Readiness Score and Cardio Load metric, as well as a custom interval training option for runners. Beyond fitness, Google is likely to integrate support for Nest security products, allowing users to view camera and doorbell images directly on the watch’s screen.
With rumors suggesting a higher price point for the Pixel Watch 3, Google will need to introduce compelling new features, especially as Samsung did not raise the price for the Galaxy Watch 7. More information on the Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel 9 series is anticipated to be revealed during Google’s event scheduled for August 13.
