Apple has faced criticism for sticking to a stale design on its iPhones year after year. Similarly, Samsung seems to be following the same path with the Galaxy S25 series smartphones in an attempt to outdo Apple.
Android Headlines, in collaboration with @OnLeaks, has shared leaked renders of the upcoming Galaxy S25. The design appears to be a continuation of the aesthetics seen in previous models like the Galaxy S23 and midrange smartphones in the Galaxy A and Galaxy M lineups.
While the design remains familiar with features like a vertical floating lens array at the back and a centrally positioned selfie camera on the front, the leaked renders show thinner bezels compared to previous models.
According to the latest leaks, the Galaxy S25 is expected to feature a 6.17-inch display with a smaller profile on all edges. Samsung is rumored to opt for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, breaking away from its usual Exynos processors for this model. The device is also reported to come with 12GB of RAM but a relatively small 4,000mAh battery.
If past trends are anything to go by, the Galaxy S25 might be unveiled in the early months of 2025.
A hot concern
While the design of the Galaxy S25 isn’t necessarily bad, concerns about a smaller chassis raise questions about thermal management. With compact internal space and powerful hardware, Samsung needs to address potential heating issues to ensure optimal performance.
Previous generations of Galaxy S phones have faced thermal challenges, especially in smaller models. Despite improvements in heat management, issues like overheating warnings during intensive tasks have been common.
As Samsung potentially delays a design refresh, the focus should be on improving thermal performance in the Galaxy S25 to match its hardware capabilities.
