Apple just released an updated build for its third iOS 18 beta to developers. This signals that the public beta release is imminent, building anticipation among users.
The initial developer build of iOS 18 was unveiled right after WWDC 2024 on June 10, 2024. A week ago, the third developer beta was released with build number 22A5307f. Traditionally, the public beta follows a week after the third developer beta.
Today, Apple surprised developers by releasing an updated version of the developer beta 3 with a new build number 22A5307i. Additionally, an updated third beta for macOS Sequoia, with build number 24A5289h, was also rolled out.
It remains uncertain if major changes have been introduced in this updated version of the third beta for iOS 18. It could potentially include bug fixes rather than significant feature alterations.
The original third beta of iOS 18 introduced some new features including a dynamic wallpaper that changes colors throughout the day, enhancements to the Photos app for a more streamlined experience, a redesigned flashlight interface for iPhones with Dynamic Island, and the addition of RCS support for more global carriers. Apple Intelligence features are yet to be activated on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models using the third developer beta, with plans for their launch later this summer, possibly coinciding with the public beta release. Certain other features might be delayed until 2025.
While the expectation for the first iOS 18 public beta was high today, the updated third developer beta release suggests that the public beta launch is drawing near. Hopefully, we can expect the public beta to be available either later this week or by next week.
