As a long-time iPhone user, I have always been a big fan of Apple. However, after using the Google Pixel 9 Pro for the past year, I must say it is one of the best smartphones released this year.
In fact, I believe it is the iPhone Pro I have always desired. The Pixel 9 Pro is simply exceptional. Let me elaborate on why.
The Significance of Smartphone Size
Being accustomed to having a choice of phone sizes from Apple, I always opt for the smaller phone due to my petite hands and preference for ease of use with one hand. Additionally, as a woman, dealing with small pockets and limited bag space makes large phones inconvenient for me.
Furthermore, I tend to gravitate towards higher-end models like the “pro” phones for their premium displays and cameras, which are crucial for my photography needs. Therefore, the iPhone Pro models have always been my go-to choice.
While Apple maintained the same camera systems across the iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro variants, the introduction of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max saw a differentiation in camera hardware, with the Pro Max model receiving exclusive upgrades. This left smaller phone users like myself feeling shortchanged.
Unlike Apple, Google’s approach with the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL was refreshing. Both models offer identical features, including cameras with 5x optical zoom, ensuring that no compromises are made based on size preference.
Introducing the XL variant after a long gap was a wise move by Google, catering to users who prefer smaller phones without sacrificing functionality.
While rumors suggest Apple might address this disparity with the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro, Google’s inclusive approach with the Pixel 9 series stands out.
Exceptional Hardware of the Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 lineup represents a significant hardware upgrade, resembling iPhone hardware powered by Android. The design enhancements, such as flat edges and a revamped camera module, add a premium touch to the Pixel 9 Pro.
The flattened sides and rounded corners contribute to a comfortable grip, reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy S24 line design choice.
The redesigned camera island on the Pixel 9 Pro gives it a modern and sleek look, maintaining the Pixel identity while evolving aesthetically.
Despite minor concerns about the polished aluminum frame being prone to smudges, the Pixel 9 Pro exudes a premium feel with its matte back glass finish, akin to stainless steel.
A Desirable Pink Smartphone
As a fan of pink, I appreciate the availability of a pink variant in smartphones. Google’s introduction of the Rose Quartz Pixel 9 Pro caters to users seeking a classy and subtle color option.
While the preference for a vibrant Peony Pixel 9 is noted, the Rose Quartz variant exudes elegance reminiscent of the beloved rose gold iPhone colors.
Expressing a desire for a pink iPhone Pro, the absence of such options from Apple’s recent lineup is disappointing.
Favorite Phone of 2024 – Pixel 9 Pro
With Apple’s iPhone 16 event being the final major release of the year, the Pixel 9 Pro has truly impressed me as my favorite phone of 2024.
The Pixel 9 line’s updated aesthetics, coupled with its innovative features and color options, make it a standout choice. The design elements, camera enhancements, and user-focused approach set the Pixel 9 Pro apart from its competitors.
Opting for the Pixel 9 Pro over my iPhone 15 Pro has been a natural choice, especially due to its camera capabilities that align with my needs. Google’s attention to detail in delivering a premium, inclusive, and aesthetically pleasing device earns my admiration.
