Xiaomi, known for offering great value for money, has recently introduced some high-end phones with top-notch features and specifications. The company unveiled two new flagship models today, one of which is one of the thinnest and lightest sideways-folding phones. Along with the Mix Fold 4, Xiaomi also launched its first flip phone, which outperforms existing clamshell models, including the newly released Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip boasts an outer display that covers most of the area on the cover and wraps around the dual cameras. This design allows for a large 4-inch display, with curved edges on all sides for better grip.
Despite the square layout, over 200 apps can run in a 16:9 orientation on the outer screen, which has a resolution of 1392 x 1208 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,000 nits peak brightness for enhanced usability. The inner 6.86-inch screen features a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, a 2912 x 1224 pixel resolution, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
One of the standout features of Xiaomi’s flip phone is its camera setup. Like its sibling, the Mix Fold 4, the Mix Flip also features cameras developed in collaboration with Leica. It uses a 50-megapixel camera with a Light Fusion 800 sensor and a Leica Summilux lens, along with a 50MP 2x telephoto camera that leverages machine learning for portrait enhancement.
Xiaomi will offer a “Photography Kit” accessory for the Mix Flip, allowing users to capture and print photos instantly. This feature sets the Mix Flip apart from other flagship flip phones, such as the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Xiaomi’s focus on camera quality across its Fold and Flip models sets a new standard for manufacturers in the industry.
The Mix Flip is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. In addition to excellent performance, the chip supports advanced connectivity features like Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Advanced compatibility.
With a 4,780mAh battery split into two cells for improved heat management, the Mix Flip also supports 67-watt fast wired charging, though it lacks wireless charging functionality.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip is offered in three color options: white, black, and purple, with a special Nylon Fiber edition in purple featuring a woven lattice design.
Starting at just 5,999 yuan or $825 for the 12GB/256GB model, the Mix Flip’s higher-end variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage will retail for 7,299 yuan or approximately $1,005. While initially limited to China, there are indications that Xiaomi may launch a global version in the near future based on previous leaks.
