Rare’s Sea of Thieves is renowned for its stunning visuals, offering players breathtaking tropical landscapes at every corner. The game is not only visually appealing but also filled with hidden secrets and Easter eggs that pay tribute to players, community members, and even fallen individuals. Our team has delved into the depths of the sea to uncover some of the most intriguing finds in the game.
While there are over 50 Easter eggs scattered across the seas, listing them all would be quite a challenge. For those curious to explore everything the game has to offer and receive rewards for specific sets of discoveries, the Sea of Thieves wiki is a valuable resource.
Some Rare games
To celebrate Rare’s 35th anniversary, references to past games were cleverly inserted into Sea of Thieves. For instance, a ship in Shipwreck Bay bears the name “Blackwyche,” paying homage to a 1985 game of the same name. Additionally, you can discover cave paintings on Snake Island, Plunder Valley, and Thieves’ Haven dedicated to Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie, and Viva Pinata respectively.
The Legend of Glitterbeard
It’s nearly a year since my son Jim died. We miss him every day. He worked for @RareLtd, who produce @SeaOfThieves. They commemorate him in the game in "The Legend of Glitterbeard". Please take some time and read about it here. #SeaOfThieves pic.twitter.com/DIpH7WAjPF

The Legend of Glitterbeard stands out as a unique Easter egg with a poignant backstory. This tribute in memory of James White, an Apprentice Data Analyst at Rare who passed away in 2020, can be experienced by uncovering and reading 22 Glitterbeard Journals. To unlock the special Glitterbeard Commendation and witness the extra tribute, a crew must find Glitterbeard’s home and play instruments in specific spots at a specific time.
