At CES 2024, AMD, Nvidia, and Intel all made big announcements that set the stage for PC hardware advancements, with other brands also following suit. Among the wide array of PC hardware showcased, only a handful of parts really grabbed our attention.
After thoroughly exploring the convention halls for several days, we have compiled a list of the most impressive PC hardware we saw at CES 2024.
Nvidia RTX 40-series Super
Nvidia has made significant improvements with the RTX 40-series Super refresh. The RTX 4080 is now a high-end powerhouse, priced at $1,000, and the RTX 4070 Ti delivers impressive performance at $800 with its AD103 treatment. Additionally, the RTX 4070 Super enhances the already appealing midrange GPU, offering a substantial performance boost at the same price point.
Nvidia has faced criticism from gamers this generation due to higher GPU prices, especially with the RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti, and RTX 4070. However, the Super refresh appears to be a step in the right direction, signaling Nvidia’s acknowledgment of the need to correct previous pricing strategies.
There are hopes for other GPUs to receive the Super treatment, but for now, this marks a positive shift for Nvidia and sets the company up to maintain its position at the top of the GPU market.
AMD RX 7600 XT
The introduction of the RX 7600 XT was no surprise, as AMD expands its current-gen GPU lineup with this new addition. Priced at $330, the RX 7600 XT offers a balance between the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti, providing improvement in both performance and affordability. The inclusion of 16GB of VRAM further emphasizes AMD’s commitment to high memory capacities on midrange GPUs.
Although the 16GB is channeled through a 128-bit bus and shares the same underlying GPU as the RX 7600, AMD promises significant performance enhancements. The real test will be when we put the GPU through its paces and see how it stacks up.
MSI Claw
Bringing a new form factor to the handheld gaming PC landscape, the MSI Claw is notable for being the first to feature Intel’s Meteor Lake platform in this category. Along with Intel’s XeSS technology for AI-powered supersampling, the MSI Claw charts new territory for handheld gaming PCs, showcasing Intel’s innovative approach to system on a chip architecture.
While the software is still a work in progress and comfort may not match the Steam Deck, the MSI Claw is a significant forward leap for handheld gaming PCs. Intel’s entry into this space provides more options for PC gamers on the go.
Hyte Keeb TKL
The Hyte Keeb TKL is a compelling keyboard that stands out for its unique design and impressive features. Priced at $180, this keyboard not only offers stunning aesthetics with its transparent frame and RGB LEDs but also provides an exceptional typing experience due to the gasket mount and sound dampening technology.
The inclusion of features like a dual-mode volume wheel and dedicated media keys adds to the overall appeal of the Hyte Keeb TKL. At its price point, it competes favorably with enthusiast-grade keyboards without compromising on quality.
AMD Ryzen 8000G
The launch of the Ryzen 8000G CPUs marks the return of APUs, offering up to eight Zen 4 CPU cores and a Radeon 780M mobile graphics chip. Priced at $330 for the top chip, these processors significantly lower the barrier to entry for PC gaming, providing impressive performance without the need for a dedicated graphics card.
AMD’s Ryzen 8000G processors demonstrate a strong comeback for the company in the powerful APU segment, offering budget gamers an affordable and capable option to enjoy PC gaming.
