During the early days, Nintendo dominated the handheld market with its Game Boy. The success of the best Game Boy games is a testament to the system’s popularity, but eventually, it was time for an upgrade. While the Game Boy Advance would later be considered a true next-gen handheld (check out our list of the best GBA games), the Game Boy Color was a notable improvement in the interim.
Despite its relatively short lifespan, the Game Boy Color offered a range of excellent games, including some of the best Pokémon and Zelda titles. Many of these games are still regarded as all-time classics, surpassing even the quality of the best 3DS and Switch games. As such, they remain highly sought after by fans and collectors alike.
