Apple has announced that its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is scheduled for June 10, where we anticipate the unveiling of iOS 18, the next major update across all Apple products.
Rumors suggest that iOS 18 will be a significant update, possibly one of the most extensive to date. Here’s a preview of what to expect from Apple’s upcoming iPhone update with iOS 18.
A More Customizable Home Screen
One key advantage of Android phones is the ability to customize the home screen extensively. iOS, on the other hand, restricts app icons and widgets to a grid format with no gaps between them. iOS 18 aims to change this by allowing users to create blank spaces, rows, and columns between icons and widgets, offering similar flexibility to Android customization.
This update marks a significant enhancement in iOS customization, following the introduction of home screen widgets in iOS 14 and lock screen widgets in iOS 16.
RCS Messaging
Apple’s adoption of RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging in iMessage, expected in 2024, will likely be a highlight feature of iOS 18. This integration aims to improve cross-platform messaging between iPhones and Android devices, bridging the gap with iMessage functionalities like higher-resolution media sharing, emojis, typing indicators, and more.
While retaining the signature green bubbles for RCS messages, the updates are anticipated to enhance the overall messaging experience for Apple users.
