Despite a strong start with a dominant opening map win, Team Heretics faced a tough 3-1 loss against Team Vitality in the VCT EMEA Stage 2 playoffs, ultimately crushing their hopes for a regional title this season. We caught up with Dominykas “MiniBoo” Lukaševičius for a brief interview after the defeat.
Esports.net: Why do you think your team ended up on the losing side today, especially after a positive performance in the first map?
MiniBoo: It’s hard to say what went wrong. I believe we were a bit exhausted, and our communication and team play suffered as a result. We lost some crucial rounds in the second game, and I think our comms faltered. That’s where things took a turn.
Considering fatigue played a role, how do you think it would have affected the final if you made it through?
MiniBoo: If we had progressed to the final, we would have still been fatigued. Everyone, including Fnatic, is feeling the strain from our recent events and busy schedules. There’s not much time for rest or preparation, so it’s tough for everyone. Vitality, too, had a demanding schedule with multiple matches in a short span of time.
Lee Jones: Despite today’s outcome, Team Heretics has already secured a spot in VALORANT Champions.
Do you believe Heretics can make a strong push for the title in VALORANT Champions?
Absolutely. Despite feeling a bit drained at the moment, we have some time to regroup before giving it our all. This final push will be our focus before heading into the off-season. We’re determined to perform well and let the results speak for themselves.
Can you discuss the dynamic between you and your teammate, considering the big brother/little brother analogy?
Lee Jones: Has the dynamic ever shifted, for instance, after a day where one excels in practice while the other struggles?
MiniBoo: In the game, he’s the in-game leader, and I handle the Duelist role. Outside the game, he’s like a brother to me. Our dynamics remain unchanged regardless of our performance on a particular day. He’s more laid-back in real life while I prefer to stay active and engaged.
What are your predictions for the final match?
I anticipate a close match against Fnatic.
