Reports suggest that Huawei has taken down several Tencent mobile games from the top charts on its AppGallery, indicating a potential disagreement between the two companies.
As mentioned by the South China Morning Post, most Tencent titles have disappeared from the top rankings, allowing games from rival NetEase like Eggy Party, Identity V, and Fantasy Westward Journey to take top spots.
The reason and timing of the removal of these games remain unclear. Nonetheless, they remain available for download on AppGallery.
Continuation of Disagreement
Just a month ago, Tencent made the decision to remove its popular release Dungeon & Fighter Mobile from Huawei’s store, as well as from Oppo and Vivo platforms.
Tencent explained that the removal from Chinese Android platforms was due to contract expiration.
In an earlier conflict between Huawei and Tencent in January 2021, Huawei briefly eliminated Tencent’s mobile games from its marketplace. However, the games were reinstated after both companies engaged in “friendly negotiations” to resolve their differences.
