Just before the start of DreamLeague Season 22, we had a conversation with Miposhka from Team Spirit about their upcoming series, the removal of the DPC, and the success of Spirit’s roster.
Sophie McCarthy: Okay, let’s dive into Dream League. You’ll be facing Liquid and Tundra on the first day. How are you preparing for these series?
How are you guys preparing for those series?
Miposhka: To be honest, we haven’t had much time for preparation. We faced some challenges before the tournament and also had to secure our visas for the UK. So our preparation time has been limited, but we will start playing and practicing from today onwards. We will use the next two to three days to strategize and come up with ideas. Although we haven’t had enough practice matches yet, we are determined to start strong as a team.
Sophie: It sounds like a tough start with strong opponents. You’ll definitely need to bring your A-game.
Miposhka: Yes, our opponents will be tough, but we are doing our best to prepare as much as we can.
If you could choose your first game against either Liquid or Tundra, who would you pick and why?
Miposhka: Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me. Both teams are strong in my opinion. If I had to choose from the entire group, I might pick Shopify Rebellion.
Sophie: Why Shopify?
Miposhka: I don’t know, just a preference.
Sophie: I’d like to discuss the new Dota year structure. With the removal of the DPC, how do you feel about the tournament-to-tournament format?
MinD_ContRoL: “You need to be ready for everything against Spirit”
Do you prefer that?
Miposhka: It’s hard to say at this early stage of the season. The current format means we don’t have much time between tournaments. The schedule is packed with tournaments and there are only short breaks in between. I personally like the intensity of this format. I enjoyed our previous qualifiers where we had to play multiple series in a day. It keeps us on our toes and I believe it’s better than the previous DPC system. But we’ll have to see how it goes in the long run.
Sophie: It seems like a more action-packed schedule. Many players seem to prefer it over the old DPC structure. How do you feel about the recent patch and its impact on the Dream League meta?
Do you think it’s going to have an impact on the meta in the Dream League?
Miposhka: Definitely. The changes from the recent patch will influence the meta, but it might take some time for teams to adapt and figure out the best strategies and hero priorities. The meta is likely to shift during the tournament, although it may not be immediately evident at the beginning.
Sophie: It will be interesting to see how teams adjust to the changes. With the recent nerfs and adjustments, it could shake things up. I also wanted to touch on the stability of Team Spirit’s roster. You guys have been together for quite some time now, with only a few additions. How crucial is that stability to your success?
Miposhka: Our roster’s stability has been key to our success. We have celebrated victories in major tournaments, which has built trust among us. We understand that everyone goes through ups and downs, and it’s important to give each other time to adapt to new patches, strategies, and heroes. We have a strong belief in each other and our abilities, which has been a driving force behind our achievements.
Sophie: It’s clear that your team’s chemistry and trust in each other have been instrumental in your success. Two-time TI champion, it must feel great to look back at all the victories.
Miposhka: Indeed, it’s a fantastic feeling.
