The final days of VALORANT Champions 2024 are here. Yesterday, Edward Gaming made history by becoming the first VCT CN team to secure a spot in the Grand Finals. Unfortunately, Sentinels were eliminated from the tournament. Day 2 saw the lower bracket Finals between Leviatan and Edward Gaming, with the winner becoming the second team to advance to the Grand Finals. Let’s delve into the major highlights from the day.
Team Heretics Crush Leviatan’s Dreams and Advance to the Grand Finals
Fans were eagerly anticipating the rematch between Leviatan and Team Heretics in the lower bracket finals. Leviatan, with former VALORANT Champions winners on their roster, were determined to bounce back after their loss to Edward Gaming in the upper bracket finals.
Meanwhile, Team Heretics showcased their mental strength by defeating Sentinels in the semi-finals on day one. Their resilience was evident, although they had concerns about their stamina during a best-of-5 series.
The first game on Icebox, Leviatan’s map pick, started strong for Leviatan, winning the first three rounds. However, Team Heretics, led by Dominikas “Miniboo” Lukasevicius, turned the tide and secured a 13-7 victory. Miniboo’s performance was exceptional, with a kill-to-death difference of +6 and 6 first bloods.
In game 2, Team Heretics dominated the first half with an 8-4 lead. Despite Aspas’ efforts for Leviatan, including multiple 4K plays, Miniboo’s standout performance led Team Heretics to victory with a score of 13-7.
In game 3, Roberto Mazino Rivas shined, helping Leviatan secure a 13-9 win by diffusing the spike in crucial rounds. However, Team Heretics bounced back on Lotus, winning 11 out of 12 rounds on the attacking side and clinching the map with a score of 13-3.
Now, the stage is set for the Grand Finals of VALORANT Champions 2024 between Edward Gaming and Leviatan at 5 PM KST.
