Jordanian mobile games publisher Tamatem Games has secured support from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) in a significant deal that involves relocating its headquarters to the UAE capital.
This investment aims to drive the growth of the publisher and enhance the overall games ecosystem in the country. With over 70 developers already based in the UAE, this move is set to further strengthen the gaming industry in the region.
As part of the agreement, Tamatem Games will establish a “centre of excellence in Abu Dhabi” with the goal of contributing to the country’s vision of becoming a prominent regional games hub. The publisher plans to hire more than 40 employees in Abu Dhabi and collaborate with local universities to create internship and training programs.
Empowering the UAE’s gaming sector
Focusing on delivering culturally relevant and localized games for the Arabic-speaking community, Tamatem Games boasts a diverse portfolio of over 50 games and has garnered over 150 million downloads to date.
“This expansion marks a significant milestone for Tamatem Games as it expands its reach and elevates its games to new levels,” commented Hussam Hammo, CEO of Tamatem Games.
He further added, “By leveraging Abu Dhabi’s dynamic ecosystem and commitment to talent development, Tamatem Games is positioned to make a substantial impact on the global gaming landscape.”
In line with its recent partnership with Ubisoft, ADIO is prioritizing strategic collaborations as a key element of its plans to fortify the UAE’s gaming ecosystem. The office will offer support for growth, facilitate connections, and streamline the setup process for its partners.
With the MENA games market projected to reach $6 billion by 2027, the combined markets of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are anticipated to generate over $3 billion in revenue next year.
