Talon Esports, a Southeast Asian organization, has unfortunately been the first team eliminated from The International 2024 (TI13) as the competition progresses to determine the top Dota 2 team. The team faced a tough opponent in BetBoom Team and despite their best efforts, couldn’t overcome the challenge.
In a thrilling three-game series, the SEA hopefuls at TI13 found themselves struggling in the first game as Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko’s Luna and Matvey “MieRo`” Vasyunin’s Beastmaster dominated the battlefield.
Despite a strong showing in game two, with Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman’s outstanding performance on Monkey King, Talon couldn’t maintain their momentum. In game three, BetBoom’s superior draft led to their victory, closing out the series 3-1.
Talon Esports concludes their journey at TI13 in 13th-16th place, earning an estimated $40,000 as a 1.5% share of the prize pool.
With Talon’s elimination, one of the two SEA representatives at TI is now out of the competition. The other SEA team, Aurora, will face off against the winner of a South American clash between Heroic and beastcoast.
While SEA may have struggled historically at TI, there is hope as SEA players are represented on teams like G2 x iG and Team Zero from China. Additionally, fans can look forward to ESL One Bangkok later this year for more Dota 2 action.
