Mark Zuckerberg recently compared Apple’s Vision Pro headset to the Meta Quest 3, and shockingly, he believes the Quest 3 is the superior product.
In a video shared on his Instagram account, Zuckerberg expressed that he initially believed the Quest 3 would offer better value due to its significantly lower price compared to Apple’s $3,500 headset. However, after trying out the Vision Pro, he is convinced that Meta’s product is the better choice.
He stated, “I don’t just think that Quest is the better value, I think Quest is the better product, period. Different companies made different design decisions for the headsets, and they have different strengths. But overall, Quest is better for the vast majority of things that people use mixed reality for.”
Zuckerberg highlighted the Quest 3’s comfort, especially for activities like exercising and gaming, as the Meta headset weighs around 120 grams less than the Vision Pro. He also criticized Apple’s headset for sacrificing device quality, comfort, and ergonomics in favor of higher resolution screens.
Additionally, Zuckerberg emphasized the Quest 3’s wider field of view and brighter screens, as well as its superior combination of hand tracking and physical controls. He also mentioned the potential reintroduction of eye tracking, a feature from the more expensive Quest Pro, to cheaper headsets.
While acknowledging that the Vision Pro can technically access YouTube through a third-party app, Zuckerberg pointed out that Quest 3 offers official integration with Xbox and YouTube for an immersive experience on a larger scale.
Furthermore, he highlighted Meta’s established library of virtual reality content partners and multiple headset models at reduced prices, underscoring Apple’s status as a newcomer in the mixed reality market.
