HypeHype, a games platform backed by Supercell, has recently introduced a monetization scheme for creators who develop content for the platform. Creators will receive 100% of the net revenue based on playtime and in-app purchases (for now).
This mobile-first platform was initially available in early access to audiences in the Philippines in spring 2021 and has now expanded to Canada and HypeHype’s home country, Finland.
Although the audience is limited to these three countries, creators from anywhere in the world can apply to build games on the platform and start earning money as well.
The platform, also named HypeHype, is primarily designed for mobile but can also be accessed on PC.
Rewarding creativity
The creator monetization plan by HypeHype was originally set to launch in May but was released early on April 29th. This launch coincided with an announcement of a $100,000 competition to motivate creators to develop games for the platform.
Creators who publish a game on HypeHype before June 15th, 2024, will be eligible to win a portion of the $100,000 prize pool. Meanwhile, all creators can start earning based on player engagement within their games without delay.
The more players a game attracts and the longer they engage with it, the more revenue its creator will earn. Additionally, the platform allows for in-game purchases, providing creators the opportunity to offer skins, power-ups, ammo, and other extras for sale to players, further enhancing revenue potential.
During the early access period, creators will receive 100% of the net revenue from in-game sales in the platform’s currency, HypeX. Once they accumulate $200 worth of HypeX, they can convert it into real money.
One of HypeHype’s top games, Rock Tycoon Idle, is already earning up to $4,000 per month based on its metrics.
“Make games and get paid! We’re launching HypeHype creator monetization today with engagement-based payouts, in-game purchases, and a $100,000 USD hit game competition!” HypeHype announced on LinkedIn yesterday.
HypeHype has developed games such as Badland Brawl, Rumble Stars Football, and Rumble Hockey and operates independently in a long-term partnership with Supercell. Supercell invested $15 million in the user-generated content platform, allowing HypeHype to expand its platform team to 50 developers.
