Prepare yourself for some excessively enthusiastic campy dialogue.
An urgent communication from the United Citizen Federation! Offworld—in partnership with Sony Pictures Consumer Products and Knights Peak—has launched Starship Troopers: Extermination.
After coming out of early access, the game is now available on Steam and Epic Games Store for PC, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. It will be interesting to see how it fares in comparison to the successful Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2, which was a hit in late summer.
In addition to its explosive co-op multiplayer action, the 1.0 and console versions of Starship Troopers: Extermination come with exciting new features. These include the formidable Tanker Bug enemy inspired by the 1997 film, the icy planet Boreas, and a solo tutorial mode featuring General Rico himself, portrayed by Casper Van Dien.
Join the Deep Space Vanguard, grab your rifle, and play your part in the action. The game is priced at $50.
Starship Troopers: Extermination offers a mix of squad-based gunplay, base-building, and resource extraction against a variety of arachnid adversaries. Choose from six unique classes, collaborate to achieve objectives, gather resources, construct and defend your base, and extract critical materials in intense battles.
The game introduces a new solo tutorial mode where players will follow General Rico, played by Casper Van Dien, in Chapter One of a new story that delves into the gameplay dynamics of Starship Troopers: Extermination.
Chapter Two will be released in future updates. Explore the new ice planet Boreas, a toxic frozen wasteland transformed by a Bug Meteor, fostering the evolution of arachnids in extreme conditions.
Embark on missions to this frigid world, battling the cold-adapted Arachnids. Encounter the iconic Tanker Bug, a fearsome armored enemy from the original movie, now making its debut in the 1.0 version.
The Tanker Bug acts as a devastating assault unit within the Arachnid forces, capable of eliminating entire Mobile Infantry platoons. Team coordination is crucial when facing this formidable enemy in company operations.
The Galactic Front introduces new missions for company members, fostering connections within the Starship Troopers community. Community-wide Victory Points impact rewards and shape the ongoing narrative of Starship Troopers: Extermination.
Players can establish their own dedicated trooper companies, reminiscent of Johnny Rico and the Roughnecks. Cooperation within these companies is vital for succeeding in company operations on the Galactic Front.
“From day one, we aimed to deliver the ‘authentic troopers experience,’” said Gareth Woods, Offworld’s head of marketing. “We delved into the source material to capture the essence of being a Trooper in the Deep Space Vanguard and worked diligently to bring that essence to life.”
“The journey through Early Access has been nothing short of epic, and our team has shown remarkable dedication,” added Peter Maurice, Offworld’s project lead. “We are immensely proud of our accomplishments with technologies like Carnage and excited for the future. Stay tuned for more updates on Starship Troopers: Extermination.”
Originally emerging from the modding community, Offworld has evolved into a game studio responsible for Starship Troopers: Extermination, the popular FPS shooter Squad, and the WW2 shooter Squad 44.
