Supercell is set to launch Squad Busters globally on May 29th across the App Store and Google Play, marking its first worldwide release in over five years.
This title will be the sixth global release from the Finnish studio, following the success of games like Brawl Stars, which has seen a recent surge in revenue.
Known for popular titles such as Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, and Brawl Stars, Supercell’s games have collectively crossed the $1 billion mark in player spending.
IP mashup
Squad Busters is a multiplayer squad-building action game that features characters from Supercell’s existing IP. Players engage in 10-person matches, building squads during four-minute games to collect gems.
The game entered soft launch on April 23, 2024, following two beta tests to gather player feedback. It is currently available in select countries and has already reached the top of the App Store game download rankings in each of these regions.
As Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen stated, “Our goal is to create enduring games that resonate with players worldwide for years to come. Squad Busters has shown tremendous potential, and we are excited for its global launch following the success of Brawl Stars in 2018.”
Paananen further added, “By bringing together our beloved Supercell characters in a fresh and engaging way, Squad Busters offers a unique experience for fans around the world.”
We had the opportunity to speak with Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen, Squad Busters game lead Eino Joas, and marketing head Rob Lowe to delve into the origins of the game and the reasons behind its upcoming global launch on May 29th.
