Supercell’s Squad Busters is set for a global release on May 29, marking the first global launch from the renowned Clash of Clans and Brawl Stars developer in over five years.
Squad Busters is a mobile crossover game featuring characters from Supercell’s popular franchises. Players lead a squad in collecting gems from a field with 10 different squads, aiming to avoid defeat. The game draws parallels to Mario Kart, providing an accessible competitive experience where individual skill and strategy can influence the outcome of matches.
Initially teased in February 2023, Squad Busters underwent multiple testing rounds before its recent global launch announcement. Unlike past titles like Clash Quest, Everdale, and Floodrush that were discontinued before global releases, Squad Busters has successfully reached this milestone.
Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen reflects on the company’s reputation for canceling games, expressing mixed feelings about it. Despite past cancellations, Squad Busters stands out for its engaging gameplay and development process. Evolved from a canceled project, the game has undergone extensive testing and refinements, now earning a global launch like Brawl Stars did in 2018.
Player response to Squad Busters will be closely observed following its worldwide release on May 29 for iOS and Android.
