Spotify announced on Tuesday that users can now design and customize their own playlist cover art. This new feature allows users to create unique cover art directly within the Spotify app, in addition to being able to upload custom images.
This feature is currently in beta and available in 65 markets on the Spotify mobile app for both iOS and Android users, regardless of their subscription status.
To access this feature, simply select a playlist you want to customize, tap the three-dot menu on the playlist page, and choose the “Create cover art” option.
Users can upload a photo from their camera roll or start with a blank canvas. They can experiment with different text styles, colors, effects, background colors, gradients, and stickers to personalize their cover art.
Spotify allows users to save one custom cover art per playlist. If a new cover art is created, it will replace the previous one. Users must save the cover art if they want to create multiple versions for a playlist.
Although creating custom cover art may seem like a small addition, it enhances the user experience and demonstrates Spotify’s commitment to providing personalized features. The platform is also testing personalized playlists generated from written prompts.
Spotify’s new feature release coincides with its efforts to introduce new features to compete with other music streaming services like Apple Music and YouTube Music. Recently, Spotify announced testing music videos for premium users in 85 additional markets to rival YouTube’s music video support.
