It was announced in early April that Clove would not be available in competitive play due to a bug related to her ultimate ability, Not Dead Yet. This bug caused players to lose their primary weapon after activating the ultimate. Another bug has been discovered in the game, this time affecting the map Split. Let’s take a closer look at the Cypher tripwire bug on Split and its immediate impact in VALORANT.
Split Removed from All VALORANT Game Modes
The removal of Split from all map pools in VALORANT is a surprising move. This is a rare occurrence where a map has been completely removed due to a bug. Previously, a bug was reported on the map Bind involving Gekko’s Dizzy and trap doors. Despite this bug, Bind remains in the map pool. A recent exploit of this bug was seen in a VCT EMEA match.
VALORANT made a statement on Twitter addressing the bugs:
“Recently, we’ve discovered two different bugs, one with Cypher’s Trapwire, which shows his Trapwires on the minimap of his teammates after he died, and the other an exploit on Split. We will be shipping a fix for both of them in Patch 8.08.”
As a result of the map-specific bug, Cypher as an agent is not banned from play. Instead, Split has been temporarily prohibited and will return to the map pool once Patch 8.08 is live. The patch is scheduled to go live in the upcoming week in VALORANT.
Additionally, Split will not be available in the Premier game mode. Matches scheduled for this week on Split will now take place on Ascent. The map will also be excluded from the map pick and ban process for the upcoming Premier Playoffs on Sunday. Riot Games seems to be making a concerted effort to communicate about and address the bugs present in the game, especially following the recent discovery of a stealth nerf to Viper.
