The South American region’s hopes at The International 2024, TI13, were dashed as both beastcoast and Heroic were eliminated on Sep. 9. In an intense showdown between the two teams, it was decided that at least one would be sent home, but to the dismay of SA fans, both teams were knocked out in a single day.
The first blow came in the match between beastcoast and Heroic. Despite an initial victory by beastcoast, Heroic proved to be the stronger team overall, ultimately securing their spot in the tournament and sending their SA rivals packing.
Following a dominant performance by Team Spirit against G2 x iG, Heroic faced off against Aurora. In Game One, Heroic showcased their strength, led by Héctor Antonio Rodríguez on his impressive Weaver. However, Aurora fought back in Game Two, showcasing their skills with a well-deserved win.
The series came down to Game Three, where Heroic initially seemed to have the upper hand with their reliable Dragon Knight strategy. But Aurora bounced back, capitalizing on their catches and securing a victory over Heroic.
Both beastcoast and Heroic bid farewell to The International 2024, finishing in 13th-16th and 9th-12th place respectively. Beastcoast will take home around $40,000 in prize money, while Heroic will earn closer to $50,000.
It has been a disappointing end for South American Dota 2 at this year’s tournament. Despite their strong showing, both teams fell short of achieving main stage success. Let’s hope to see more from these talented teams in the future.
