Windows laptops with Qualcomm’s ARM-based Snapdragon X Elite chip are set to arrive this summer, and early previews suggest great gaming capabilities. A video surfaced online showcasing Baldur’s Gate 3 running smoothly on a Qualcomm reference laptop with the chip.
Qualcomm ran the game at 1080p resolution during a public demo, displaying stable performance with minimal lag.

Despite the intense graphics demands of Baldur’s Gate 3, the Adreno GPU chip in the laptop managed to maintain a stable frame rate above 30fps, showcasing a notable improvement over standard integrated graphics performance.
For comparison, when the same test was run on a high-end MacBook Air with the M3 chip, the frame rate ranged from 40 to 50 fps on different graphics settings and a higher screen resolution. This suggests that Qualcomm’s GPU performance may have reached a comparable level to Apple’s.
It’s important to note that the game is running under emulation on Qualcomm’s reference laptop, highlighting the strength of the new GPU. Qualcomm’s previous promise about seamless PC game performance under emulation has been proven, with performance levels similar to the AMD Radeon 780M GPU.
Improvements in gaming and GPU power represent a significant advancement for Qualcomm’s ARM-based chips in Windows laptops, marking a new era for performance.
Further benchmarks demonstrate the impressive capabilities of the integrated GPU, with the Snapdragon X Elite significantly outperforming the integrated Intel Arc graphics found in Intel’s Core Ultra CPUs in AI-related tests. This could potentially disrupt the gaming laptop industry.
