In an exciting announcement, DISH-owned streaming service Sling TV has launched a new gaming platform called “Arcade.” This platform features classic arcade games like Tetris, Wheel of Fortune, Sweet Sugar, Solitaire Clash, Poker Online, and Doodle Jump, among others.
Sling TV customers, including Sling Freestream customers, can enjoy this gaming experience for free. They can play games while watching live TV content, making commercial breaks more entertaining. Users can also expand the Arcade row on the home screen for a more immersive playing experience. Comparatively, Netflix and YouTube’s gaming offerings are limited to paid subscribers only.
Sling TV has partnered with Play.Works to offer 10 games at launch, with more titles to be added regularly. Play.Works is a connected-TV games provider that distributes games on over 200 million televisions for TV giants like Comcast, Cox, Samsung, Vizio, and others. While Sling hasn’t confirmed additional partnerships for expanding its gaming library, it wouldn’t be surprising if they do. We have reached out to Sling for further information.
As of now, Arcade is available only on Amazon Fire TV and Android TV, but Sling plans to add support for more devices soon.
“Sling is now more than just TV,” said Gary Schanman, group president of DISH Video Services, in an official statement. “We want people to enjoy their entertainment just as much as we do. The new Arcade offering combines some great classic games with our great TV programming. No other streaming platform gives you access to more entertainment options for free.”
Sling has faced challenges retaining subscribers in recent years, but Arcade could be the feature that sets them apart from other competitors by offering unique and interactive entertainment for users.
