Data access is crucial for business success, and making data available to all users, regardless of their technical skills, is becoming increasingly important. The founders of Seam, a startup, experienced this need firsthand at Okta, leading them to launch a company to address this challenge, particularly with customer data.
They recently announced a $5 million seed funding round to bring their vision to life, making their product available to the public for the first time.
CEO and co-founder Nicholas Scavone explained to TechCrunch, “We’re building the AI interface for customer information, allowing business users to use data to answer questions without needing technical expertise.” The platform uses generative AI to enable users to interact with customer data in natural language, eliminating the need for SQL queries.
Current systems often require knowledge of SQL to access data, creating barriers for many business users. Seam’s solution automates the process, turning plain language queries into SQL code, providing answers without the need for technical skills.
After launching in March 2023, Seam spent a year simplifying complex data infrastructure, enabling easy integration with multiple applications and seamless pipeline creation. The $5 million seed investment, led by Bessemer Venture Partners, will help Seam scale its market reach, working with enterprise clients and industry angels.
