SciPlay and Major League Soccer’s Austin FC have entered into a multiyear sponsorship agreement. Notably, this partnership marks the professional soccer club’s first collaboration with a video game company.
As part of the deal, SciPlay has secured naming rights to three key areas of Austin FC’s Q2 Stadium: the SciPlay Sports Bar in the north building, the SciPlay Gate (northwest gate), and the SciPlay North Parking Lot. The agreement also includes digital signage and live fan engagement opportunities.
“We are excited to collaborate with SciPlay on various unique and innovative activations,” said Andy Loughnane, President of Austin FC. “Working with another Austin-based brand that shares our values is fantastic.”
Science Play partnership contextualized
SciPlay, the social games division of Light & Wonder, Inc. (NASDAQ and ASX: LNW), specializes in casino games. The company was spun off by Light & Wonder as a public entity in 2019 and later reacquired in October 2023. SciPlay’s portfolio includes popular titles like Jackpot Party Casino Slots, Bingo Showdown, and Gold Fish Casino. With over 800 employees and six studios worldwide, SciPlay continues to expand its reach.
“Austin FC’s vibrant spirit and fiercely loyal fanbase resonate deeply with SciPlay and mirrors our own passion to win,” said Josh Wilson, CEO of SciPlay. “This partnership marks a significant step in intertwining our organizations within the diverse tapestry of Austin. We believe SciPlay’s sponsorship of Austin FC will truly be a game-changer!”
This collaboration represents another milestone for SciPlay, with a 12% revenue growth reported year-over-year. The company also recently received two EKG Slot Awards for Best Social Game (Jackpot Party) and Best Social Gaming Operator.
While this is Austin FC’s first gaming partnership, other MLS teams have previously partnered with video game companies. Notably, the Seattle Sounders had a partnership with Microsoft and Xbox as their jersey sponsor from 2009 to 2018.
Austin FC is also engaging with gamers through participation in eMLS and EA Sports FC Pro Open, further connecting with the gaming community.
