A month ago, Samsung introduced two new members of its Galaxy A series – the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. While both phones debuted in the U.K. and Europe, the U.S. release was eagerly awaited. Fortunately, that wait is now over.
Starting April 18th, the Galaxy A35 is available for purchase in the U.S. from Samsung.com, Samsung’s retail stores, and major carriers and retailers. It comes in two colors: Awesome Navy and Awesome Lilac, with a starting price just under $400, making it a more budget-friendly option compared to the earlier Galaxy S24 release. Interestingly, the Galaxy A55 is not yet launched in the U.S.
So, what can you expect from a $400 Samsung phone in 2024? Surprisingly, quite a bit.
The Galaxy A35 features a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and up to a 120Hz refresh rate on the front, while the rear sports a trio of cameras – a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. For selfies, there’s a 13MP front camera.
In terms of internal specs, it packs an Exynos 1380 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage (expandable up to 1TB), and a 5,000 mAh battery with 25-watt wired charging. It also boasts an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, ships with Android 14 out of the box, and guarantees four major Android updates, along with five years of security updates. For a $400 smartphone, these are impressive features.
Priced at $400, the Galaxy A35 is more affordable than other popular budget phones like the $500 OnePlus 12R and Google Pixel 7a/8a. Samsung offers promotional discounts, such as a 30% off deal on Galaxy Buds FE for a limited time with the purchase of the Galaxy A35, or up to $150 credit towards the A35 purchase when trading in your current phone.
