It seems like Samsung is just as unsure about its smartwatches as I am.
Every year, Samsung releases a new version of its main model, with the latest being the Galaxy Watch 7. However, each new model is accompanied by another model, creating a confusing and frustrating cycle of releases.
All the Gear, no idea
Samsung has experimented with various names and features for its smartwatches, leading to a convoluted lineup that includes models like the Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier, Gear Fit, and Gear Sport. The rebranding to the Galaxy Watch series did little to clarify the situation.
Despite the introduction of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung’s smartwatch lineup continues to lack coherence and consistency. The constant changes and new releases make it challenging for consumers to understand and choose the right model for their needs.
What’s the plan here?
Samsung’s approach to smartwatch releases seems unfocused and reactive, rather than strategic and customer-oriented. There is a lack of clear direction in the lineup, making it difficult for consumers to make informed decisions about which model to choose.
