Samsung recently unveiled its newest Fan Edition phone, the Galaxy S24 FE, but it appears that the company is already planning ahead for its successor in early 2025.
According to reports from the supply chain cited by Korean outlet The Elec, the Galaxy S25 FE is expected to maintain the 6.7-inch format, following the trend set by the Galaxy S24 FE. While the larger display size has received mixed reactions, there are some intriguing changes on the horizon for 2025.
The report suggests that the Galaxy S25 FE is being considered as a “slim” model, with Samsung potentially reducing the battery package while increasing its surface area to achieve this design.
This prediction comes as a surprise but also feels somewhat familiar. Reports have indicated that Apple is developing an iPhone 17 “Air” that could leverage battery advancements similar to those seen in the iPhone 16 Pro.
The industry has seen a shift in the pursuit of slimmer devices over the years. While slim phones were once a trend, practical necessities such as powerful cameras, larger batteries, and wireless charging capabilities led to a deviation from ultra-thin designs. However, the ambition for slimness continues, now extending to foldable phones.
While the Galaxy S25 FE’s release is still a way off, plans may evolve as Samsung conducts testing and validation of prototype units in its labs.
In terms of specifications, MediaTek has reportedly secured a deal with Samsung for the Galaxy S25 series, with the Dimensity 9400 chip expected to power the Galaxy S25 FE, according to leaks from Gadgets 360. Meanwhile, Qualcomm is set to supply the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for the rest of the mainline Galaxy S25 series phones, as well as other flagship Android devices in 2025.
