Riot Games has just released crucial information regarding the upcoming LoL MSI tournament, set to begin in one month. The first international competition of the 2024 season promises to be a thrilling event for fans of League of Legends.

LoL MSI 2024 – 12 teams, 1 champion
The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2024 is scheduled to take place in Chengdu, China. Beginning May 1, top teams from various regions will compete at the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center to determine the champion of MSI 2024, with the winning team possibly securing a spot at the World Championship (subject to qualification through their regional Summer playoffs).
This year’s MSI marks a historic moment in esports, elevating the significance and competitiveness of the premier international event. Moreover, MSI will allocate extra seeds for the Worlds 2024 competition in London to two deserving regions.
The new MSI format
The tournament will kick off with a play-in stage featuring eight teams, divided into two double-elimination brackets with Best of 3 matches. Participants will include the second seeds from the LPL, LCK, LCS, LEC, as well as representatives from the LLA, CBLOL, PCS, and VCS. The top two teams from each bracket will advance to the next stage, joining the first seeds of the major regions.
In a new format change, teams will engage in a double-elimination bracket with Best of 5 matches, culminating in the grand final on May 19th to determine the ultimate victor. The schedule for the tournament is as follows:
- Play-In Stage: May 1-5
- Bracket Stage (Week 1): May 7-12
- Bracket Stage (Week 2): May 14-18
- Grand Finals: May 19
The MSI 2024 Draw Show is set to take place following the conclusion of the LPL Finals on April 20.

Riot Games has announced that ticket sales for MSI 2024 will commence on April 2 at 20:00 CET, with varying prices based on seating options as outlined below:
- Play-ins: ¥288 – ¥428 (~$39-59)
- Bracket Stage Week 1: ¥268 – ¥ 798 (~$37-109)
- Bracket Stage Week 2: ¥288 – ¥1,088 (~$39-149)
- Finals: ¥488 – ¥1,388 (~$67-190)
