Just ahead of the highly anticipated semifinals and Grand Final of LoL Worlds 2024, Riot Games has made a big announcement regarding the location for the 2025 edition.
LoL Worlds 2025 Location – Returning to China
The news came as part of a partnership announcement between Riot Games and Chinese smartphone company OPPO, who have renewed their partnership for the upcoming year.
“As part of their continued support, OPPO remains the global presenting partner for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at both Worlds and the Mid-Season Invitational,” Riot shared in a blog post on the LoL Esports official site. “In a major milestone revealed during the OPPO Find X8 series launch event in Chengdu, OPPO announced China as the host for Worlds 2025.”
Worlds Making a Comeback to China
After a gap of nearly five years, Worlds will be returning to China. Beijing and Shanghai were the previous host cities in 2017 and 2020, respectively.
Although the specific hosting cities for the event have not been disclosed yet, it is likely that some of the current venues used by the LPL will be involved. More details may be unveiled before the Grand Final on November 2, set to take place at the O2 Arena in London.
China recently held another significant League of Legends international tournament, the Mid-Season Invitational, in May in Chengdu.
As we eagerly await the 2025 season, there is still plenty of excitement surrounding this year’s Worlds. WBG and BLG are set to clash on October 26, followed by a showdown between T1 and Gen.G at the adidas arena in Paris, France the next day.
Keep an eye out for more updates, forecasts, and additional details on the tournament.
