Resolution Games today revealed more details about a new game for Apple Vision Pro. The new title, Game Room, is a spatial gaming experience where players can have a digital version of a traditional board game night. It launches on Apple Vision Pro on February 2. This is the first of several games Resolution is creating for the new headset, including Demeo and an undisclosed project it teased today.
Game Room features several traditional tabletop games, including chess, hearts, and solitaire. The title uses Apple’s visionOS spatial computing to support players using their hands to pick up game pieces and cards. Game Room also launches for iPad and iOS via Apple Arcade on February 2.
Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution, said in a statement, “The most remarkable experiences in spatial computing are often the most familiar, and with the capability of Apple Vision Pro to deliver lifelike immersion in real-world environments, Game Room has been designed to provide the most authentic digital game night to date to bring people from around the world together… . By reproducing classic gaming pieces that everyone is familiar with, from playing cards to pawns, we’re excited to be able to showcase this incredible capability of Apple Vision Pro.”
Game Room features multiplayer, which players can access via FaceTime or Game Center invites. It also features AI opponent options for every game (except Solitaire, one presumes). Resolution confirmed to GamesBeat that Game Room supports crossplay between handheld devices and the headset.
